As small business owners, we’re all in the same boat. We have to market the business, shoot kick awesome sessions for clients, edit until our eyeballs fall out of our head, client viewings, taking care of customer orders, and then let’s not forget about all the things we have to do at home. Cooking, cleaning, paying bills, taking care of the kiddos, coordinating activities, grocery shopping, and trying to find time to sleep at some point. We all have SO MUCH on our plate! But you know what? You don’t have to do everything.
Wait, say what?
That’s right….
You Don’t Have to do Everything!
When we try and be Superman and do everything – whether you are physically able to or not – it leads to getting burned out… quick.
Plus, trying to do it all often leads to “chicken-with-your-head-cut-off” syndrome. What happens is you try and do a little of everything, but don’t complete anything. And you certainly won’t do it as well as you could if you were focused.
So we’ve established that you don’t have to do everything.
Now ask yourself this question: What would happen if you did less, but really focused on getting those big, important tasks accomplished?
Here are a few things to think about when you are looking to take things off your plate, while still making your business more productive:
- What tasks do I hate doing the most?
- What job do I usually procrastinate?
- Which tasks are repetitive (aka boring!)?
- What areas do I lack knowledge or skills?
For me, I absolutely HATE album design. It is a pain point because it takes so much of my time, I dread doing it, and used to end up dragging my feet forever getting it done.
A few years ago, I decided to outsource that job, and it has been amazing! It is worth every penny I pay to Plumeria Album Design to have her go through all the beautiful wedding pictures and design albums for me! That was definitely the easy button, and now it is a JOY to provide albums to my clients!
Ask yourself – what is one thing you can outsource to make your life easier?!
Remember, you don’t have to do everything!
Make sure you are focusing on the right things – that will be the key to your success!
