The Norfolk Pagoda gardens are special to me because that is where my handsome hubby, Eric, got down on one knee and surprised me with a proposal during what I thought was just a regular photo shoot. Turns out, joke was one me and I got the surprise of my life – you can read all about our surprise proposal HERE. That’s why this winter pagoda garden engagement session for Halldora and Ian is so special, because I can so closely relate to the love these two share!
Get to know them as they share a bit about their journey on the blog today!
Winter Pagoda Garden Engagement Session
How you two meet?
We met at a mutual friend’s house a few years ago. There was an instant connection that we both felt but didn’t do anything about it at the time. We kept in touch, mainly through Facebook until I asked our mutual friend about him and she said he had asked about me. I decided to text him to see how he was and we ended up texting several times a day over the next couple of months to the point where it became a crucial part of both our days. We eventually decided to hang out and started officially dating about a month after.
When did you know he was the one?
I knew he was the one when I met his son. I fell in love with his son instantly because he was a part of Ian and that’s when I realized that I wanted all that Ian had to offer.
What was the proposal like?
We went out to dinner at Freemason Abbey and got all dressed up. After dinner Ian asked the waiter to take a picture of us. He took a couple of pictures and Ian turned towards me, pulled out the ring and went to one knee. Neither of us remember exactly what he said but at the end he said “I’ve been waiting to say this for a while”, “will you marry me”. Obviously I said yes!
What are some of your favorite things to do together?
We love going to concerts and eating good food but I think what we enjoy the most is cuddling on the couch, either talking or watching Netflix. We even dressed up as Netflix and Chill one Halloween. Honestly, the everyday stuff like grocery shopping, running errands or going to the hardware store are when we have the most fun.
If you had to pick a word for your relationship, what would it be?
When we decided to start dating I told Ian about an article that I read that said you should say “hell yeah” to being with a person and having them in your life, if not, you should move on. We both said “hell yeah”.
What are three dreams/goals for your marriage?
Travel and experience things together, keep our mutual trust and respect, and continue to be awesome.
