I love working with Operation Love Reunited, because it gives me a chance to give back to the military community (which has such a strong presence here in Hampton Roads!), while giving these families something tangible to help get them through the long days of deployment. I know that deployments are hard, especially when you’ve got little ones! So when Raquel messaged me about doing a session, I got excited because here was something I could do for her and her two little boys while they were waiting for daddy to get home!
About Operation Love Reunited
Started in the summer of 2006, OpLove is a wonderful non-profit organization that provides free, professional photography sessions and photo gifts to military families dealing with a deployment. With photographers all over the world (there’s even a branch in Australia!) it helps ensure that there’s enough coverage for military families who want to use the program.
Waiting For Daddy
Raquel and her boys met me out at Stumpy Lake Natural Area for our session, and they totally rocked it out! Her little boys are so adorable!!! I asked Jeydan (the oldest boy) what the hardest part was about waiting for daddy to come home from deployment and he said that he missed snuggling on the couch with daddy and watching tv. Sebastian (the youngest boy) had recently turned 2, so we were able to take some birthday pictures of him too (because it’s so important to document these milestones when the kids are so small!).
Raquel, thank you so much for having me take pictures of you and your babies, I had a great time getting to take pictures with you guys! I know that Daniel will be back before you know it and you’ll have your family (and your heart) complete again.
