Last fall we had the pleasure of working with the Virginia Opera for the first time, photographing for their 40th anniversary celebration, and oh my goodness was that amazing!!! So much gorgeousness, and such an amazing celebration of the opera house legacy! For me personally, it was very inspiring to listen to the stories from opera donors who had been there from the beginning, and could remember what it had started as (a World War II USO theater), when it was remodeled in 1993, and all the changes in between then and now.
Virginia Opera Spring Gala
Fast forward to last Saturday, April 11th, and we were back once again to celebrate the end of another incredible opera season at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott! The theme was Fabulous at Forty, and included cocktails, a three-course seated dinner with entertainment featuring Soprano Elaine Alvarez and baritone Christopher Burchett, from the stages of opera companies throughout the United States and Europe, joined by members of The Herndon Foundation Emerging Artist Program, silent and live auctions AND a fabulous After-Party with dancing to the sounds of Rare Mixx.
Lisa Sands, the Director of Development for the Virginia Opera, truly thought of everything for this party! In addition to all the other fun, there was also an amazing photo booth, with the famous “Love” sculpture that normally resides at the opera house, and it was so much fut to see guests get in front of the camera and take a picture (and even goof off a little bit!).
