Whether modern art is your “thing” or not, it’s hard to argue with the fact that the pieces being put out by the amazingly talented artists today are anything short of amazing! With the Virginia MOCA fall gallery opening on September 11, 2014; the museum unveiled three different artists, who each had a different body of work, but they all flowed together seamlessly to create a visually stunning display!
This piece of fiber art took the artist over a week to create in the gallery space!
After introductions, the artists led VIP guests around the galleries and talked about their individual projects: what inspired them, what they loved best, and challenges they encountered during the journey. It was amazing to hear the stories behind the creation of some of the pieces (especially when hearing that Matthew Brandt used gummy bears in the creation of one of his pieces!
It was amazing to see the creativity behind this display from North End Catering!
There was also plenty of delicious (and beautiful!) things to munch on thank to the event sponsors! That, along with live entertainment from the Christopher Newport University Jazz Combo (which showcased students who were pursuing CNU’s Jazz Studies degree), made for a fun and entertaining evening at the Virginia MOCA fall gallery opening!
This gentleman was so intense and played with such passion!
