Doing urban Senior portraits is a little different depending on whether you are photographing a guy or a girl. With a girl, even though it’s a “rough” cityscape, you still want her to appear soft, and feminine and girly. With a guy, we get a little more creative license. We can go and do more “manly” stuff and really focus on making him look cool.

Luckily, that’s exactly what we got to do for Tomas, when we did his urban senior portraits!

Urban Senior Portraits

Initially I met Tomas’ mom through an event at MOCA, and she contacted me to see if we could set something up for her son’s senior pictures.

I was super excited, because I don’t usually get the chance to photograph seniors. But whenever I do, it’s always a blast!

Thomas was no different!

We spent a beautiful morning roaming around Downtown Norfolk, stopping at whatever struck our fancy, and creating some awesome photos!

It was cool because we had so much time to explore, I even found some new cool spots.
Don’t worry, I mentally bookmarked them so I could come back later!

By the end of the session Thomas was pretty done taking pictures. Mom and Dad were trying to get him to do a silly photo, but he wasn’t thrilled with the idea. I love this last photo we got because it’s so fun, and Thomas was willing to step outside of his comfort zone a little bit.
