He finally popped the question (hooray!) – and what better way to celebrate than to start planning your beach engagement session!
Because obviously the beach is the best location for photos!
I’m biased because I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, however, beach engagement sessions are a great way to capture this chapter of your love story in a relaxed, natural setting.
The sand, the waves, the sun—it’s all so romantic, especially with that gorgeous sunset lighting.
With a little planning from yours truly, we can work together and create photos that you’ll cherish for years to come.

Planning Your Beach Engagement Session
Here are a few tips for planning your beach engagement session:
-
Choose a photographer who specializes in beach photography.
As someone who has been photographing for 14 years, I know how to capture the beauty of the beach and make you look like your most fabulous self.
I will be with you every step of the way, helping to plan your session, choose the best location, and make sure you look and feel like a rockstar.
. -
Consider the time of year.
Beaches can be beautiful any time of year, but each season has its own unique charm.
If you’re looking for warm weather and clear skies, consider scheduling your session during the summer months.
If you’re looking for a more relaxed and intimate setting, consider scheduling your session during the off-season.
And bonus – when it comes to winter sunsets, the sky is always absolutely amazing!
. -
Pack the right clothes.
We have a whole post dedicated to suggestions for what to wear for your photoshoot – definitely check it out if you need ideas.
For the beach, y’all will want to dress in layers so that you can adjust to the changing temperatures and get different looks in during our session.
Don’t forget all the details such as jewelry, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, etc.
. -
Be prepared for the elements.
Real talk – the beach can be a unpredictable place. I have gone to the beach and it is perfectly temperate and there is barely any wind. I have also been to the beach when it feels like gale force winds are blowing the sand into every crack and crevice of your body (ask me how I know!).
My best suggestion would be to bring towels and a change of clothes in case you get wet, and have a backup plan in case of bad weather.
. -
Relax and have fun!
If you don’t listen to anything else I tell you, remember this – have fun!
This is your engagement session and I want you to enjoy it! Relax, be yourself, love on each other, and let me worry about making you look fabulous.
