I posted last month about a few free events I was hosting in the name of photography giving back, and I’m super excited to announce that I just hosted the first of two things: a headshot swap! We had 14 lovely photographers come out for a time of sharing, laughter and (of course) photographs!
Loving the light and airy feel of this gorgeous woman’s photo!
We started the evening with introductions (including each person telling what their favorite ice cream was!), and then did a short time of teaching before turning everyone loose in groups of three to go out and take turns photographing each other. It was lovely getting to see all the creativity that our group had!
Bryan was definitely rockin out the macho photographer look!
I am totally LOVING how gorgeous Skylar’s eyes look in this photo!
Getting together with all of these fabulous people was awesome because it gives us a chance to interact with people who we haven’t met yet (or maybe you’ve met online, but this is the first time you’re meeting face to face 😉 ). Another reason it was so cool is that you get a chance to see how other photographers work and how they would photograph the same thing that you are looking at. It’s always nice to see how someone else works!
Right at the end of the night, I just happened to catch Eric goofing off, it totally cracked me up!
And no photography giving back event would be complete without a goofy picture at the end ^_^
If you want to see all the awesomeness from our head shot swap, feel free to check out this Online Gallery (but be prepared to laugh!).
To all of the wonderful photographers who came out, thank you, I had an amazing time with all of you and can’t wait to hang out with all of you again!!!
[…] year we’ve hosted a headshot swap and it is ALWAYS a blast! Don’t believe me? Check out this post from a recent one and this one from last year! (did you see the craziness that was my husband in […]
[…] You can do this in a few different ways. Your blog is a great platform to give readers exactly what you want them to know about (vs Facebook where algorithms choose what people see), so use that to your advantage! Share about an event that you are hosting and want people to attend, show off photos from something you’ve been working on, etc. I usually do this when I host workshops or free events for photographers. […]
This is a pretty cool idea. I’m a headshot photographer and I hang out with a lot of headshot photographers, so this would be a super easy thing to pull off. I’m mostly a studio photographer, but it might be fun to try something different like you did and do this outdoors. Do you cap the number of people who can participate?
Thanks so much for stopping by Michael! You should definitely try something like this, it was a lot of fun to do, and we always have a lot of fun! For me, I usually cap the number of people at 30, but you could do more depending on the space 🙂
