If you’re a photographer preparing for the holidays, you are likely running around like a chicken with your head cut off right now.
Ask me how I know…
Yup. It’s because I’m right there with ya! I’m in the process of wrapping up wedding season (one more to go for the year!), doing client photo sessions like it’s going out of style (because I really want to make sure everyone has new pictures for the holidays!), finishing teaching classes at the museum, and still trying to make time for all the little things that need to happen in my life.
Whew!
Needless to say, this can be a very overwhelming time of the year for most of us!
Photographer Preparing for the Holidays
Here’s the deal:
Life is going to be crazy for a while.
Be thankful for that!
And then things are going to be pretty slow for a while.
Be thankful for that too!
So what can you do to keep from going crazy?!
Here are a few tips to keep you organized (and sane) over the next few weeks!
- Write a to-do list – I suggest writing a weekly one for things you want to get accomplished that week, and then breaking it up into separate tasks for each day. Let’s face it, there really isn’t a better feeling than getting to cross something off that list!
- Prep for your sessions early – don’t wait till the last minute to figure out that your batteries are almost dead. Get everything ready the night before so you can grab your camera bag and head out to your session worry free.
- Don’t wait till the last minute – If you are ordering products for your clients, make sure to add a cut-off date, otherwise you could be getting charged a hefty fee from the company your purchase from in order to have everything mailed before Christmas.
- Have Packaging Supplies Accessible and Together – That way when it’s time to package and wrap up all the amazing products that your clients ordered, then you have everything you need at your finger tips and don’t have to go hunting for anything (like those darn box ribbons!).
- Organized Workspace – I’ll be honest, this is something I definitely struggle with (it’s a good thing you can’t see my desk right now!), but it’s been proven time and time again, if you have a clutter free workspace, you will be more efficient and work faster… kind of makes me want to clear off all these papers today!
PS…
I have to give a shoutout to Brandi with Charming Grace Events for giving me the inspiration to get out the other day and take the pictures in today’s post!
