We had a heck of a time scheduling this Pagoda Norfolk engagement session for Alexis and Kevin.
Not only were we juggling lots of different schedules, we also had to contend with the cray cray Spring weather here in Virginia Beach.
On the day of the session, it was super cloudy, but the sun ended up coming out right when we started (yay!).
Get to know more about these two lovebirds and how they became an “us”.

Pagoda Norfolk Engagement Session
How did you two meet?
Kevin and I met online during Covid. He is in the Navy and I am a Nanny, so neither of us really had any other outlets to meet people.
From the first time we started talking, the two of us just clicked, and after a 6 hour phone call and a 6 hour video chat, we decided it was time to meet face to face.
.
What did you do on your first date?
Because everything was closed at the time, we decided to meet at Oak Grove Park for an afternoon stroll. We made it about half way around the loop when it started to pour and we had to race the rain to the parking lot. Of course, we laughed at ourselves the whole time because we had known it was going to rain, but didn’t realize how quickly time had passed. So we decided to take our date on the road to the only place a first date should end up; Chick-Fil-A!
.
What are some of your favorite things to do together?
In the free time we have together, we love to go exploring, kayaking, reading while hammocking, hosting, and just enjoying each others company.
.
When did you know he was the one?
I knew he was the one when my family fell head over heels for him too.
.
Tell Us Your Proposal Story?
To begin, if you need to know anything about me, its that not much gets past me. I am very observant, therefore surprising me has always been hard. That being said, when Kevin proposed to me, I had no idea what was happening until he was already down on one knee in front of me.
We began the day at Bergey’s Dairy for breakfast and some cute baby animals. Then we got ready for a “double date” that involved “pictures” happening later that night. Turns out, there was no double date planned at all, and the pictures were of the proposal. He took me to look at Kayaks because he wanted to get me one that I had been eyeing for a while, then we went to the park where we met and saw a circle of balloons by the water.
Of course he leads me over to them, and I just assumed they are for someone else’s proposal or pictures. However, before I knew it, he was down on one knee, asking me to marry him. Of course I said yes in complete shock, and out of nowhere, my family came out with cameras and his family in Arizona on Facetime. Happy tears, big hugs, and some sweet congratulations from onlookers ensued before we met my entire family and some friends at my parents house for a surprise engagement party.
And no engagement would be complete without some music right? Among the onlookers was a colorfully dressed man with a tiny harmonica who serenaded us with “here comes the bride” on his instrument and even had one for each of us to remember it by. It was definitely the most random, but memorable moment that was very unplanned during our engagement.
.
If you had to pick a word for your relationship, what would it be?
Loving.
.
What are three dreams/goals for your marriage?
1. We want to get a dog after the wedding
2. We dream of traveling together and growing in love for one another
3. We eventually want to have kids
.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
Marrying my best friend and getting to celebrate with our families and friends!
(And also cake, of course!)
