What is a teacher? I’ll tell you:
it isn’t someone who teaches something,
but someone who inspires the student to give of her best in order to discover what she already knows.

A few weeks ago, I had the immense pleasure of going and spending the day in Richmond with my secret crush photography inspiration, Katelyn James Alsop, of Katelyn James Photography.
I wrote a blog outlining how I came to know about Katelyn, you can check that out HERE.
Okay good, now we’re all up to speed, I’d love to share with you my awesome experience spending the day with KJP 🙂

The first thing you have to know about Katelyn is that she is such a sweet, genuine person.
In the field photography, people can get nasty because there is SO MUCH competition. No one wants to share their “business secrets” or help anyone else out because then they would be helping the competition.
But Katelyn isn’t like that at all. Her business model is to be open and honest, and she really gives you the sense that she cares about you and wants you to succeed! I had a great day learning about all the importnat things: chatting about the industry, things I can do to improve my business, doing head shots and learning that you have to make sure to put lots of XO’s and smiley faces in your messages to brides 😉

This was a wonderful learning experience for me, and I am so blessed to be able to have such a positive and giving mentor!
Katelyn: thank you for taking the time to delve into the business side of photography with me. I appreciate that you helped by giving me goals to aspire to and provided new inspiration! You are such a lovely soul, I wish all the best to you and your hubby (and Bokeh of course 🙂 ) in all the wonderful plans you have for the future <3 <3 <3
Such gorgeous pictures of you and Katelyn! I love how awesome Katelyn’s outfit looks with those red/orange leaves!
aww I just loved meeting you Judith!!!!! Can’t wait to see your business grow!!
[…] Katelyn and her husband Michael were gracious enough to host a coaching reunion for about 25 of us gals in their home, and we were all previous students of Katelyn. During our one on one coaching sessions with Katelyn, we got to talk about our business, hopes and dreams and ways to improve. If you’re interested in my personal experience with Katelyn, you can check out that blog post HERE. […]
