Awesome!
Now I can start talking about my ring (or as I like to say, my bling blam!)
My Big Fake Engagement Ring
When we got engaged, Eric really, Really, REALLY wanted to get me a Verragio engagement ring. He spent weeks looking at the different styles, asking me what I liked, and creating the most perfect ring for me.
However, I don’t know if you’ve looked at the price of those bad boys, but they are quite expensive.
At that time, we were blending our families and homes, and were about to move into our house.
For anyone who’s ever bought a new house, you know that is where you spend all the money… literally every penny we put into restoring/updating our new place.
Eric really wanted to buy me a big fancy ring, but I adamantly told him no because there were WAY too many other expenses that were more way more important.
So he ended up getting me this engagement ring, which was gorgeous, and beautiful, and perfect for me.
And obviously I wasn’t the only one to think that, because this photo got featured online in the Huffington Post in 2015 (whoot whoot!)
However, that ring wasn’t a real diamond.
Yup, you read that right.
This gorgeous stunner, was really my big (fake) engagement ring, because it was a man made stone.
Now let me be clear: I have loved that ring for years.
When I looked down at it, I saw a reminder of how much my husband loves me.
I have never once felt slighted that I didn’t get a real diamond.
In fact, I was really the driving force behind not getting a real diamond ring because there were so many other things that we could use that money for!
But since then, things have changed.
We have been working really hard at building our business, Eric has changed careers and now teaches at a college, and we are in a better place financially.
Eric has said so many times that he didn’t care for my engagement ring because it wasn’t the one he wanted to get me.
So finally, this past summer, he went to Diamond’s Direct and purchased the Verragio ring that he wanted to get me from the start.
Eric tried so hard to hold out and wait to give it to me until our anniversary today, but he was just too excited! He gave the new ring to me last week, and I was in serious awe of how gorgeous it was!
When he gave it to me, I literally teared up because I didn’t feel like I deserved something this extravagant! Seriously, it seemed like such a luxury to spend on just me.
But Eric reassured me that I deserved this ring, and so much more! He told me that it was something he wanted to get me from the start, and he was so glad that he could finally give me the ring I deserved (his words, not mine).
So why, you may ask, am I sharing about this here with y’all on the blog today?
Well I first wanted to share how gorgeous my new ring is (it’s so sparkly!), but also to talk to those gals who don’t have a diamond engagement ring.
I think that it’s becoming more and more acceptable to have something other than a diamond ring these days. There are so many beautiful options out there (hello moissanite!) for couples to truly create the ring of their dreams.
I don’t ever want anyone to feel ashamed or embarrassed because you do/do not have what society says is the perfect ring.
As long as it works for the two of you, who the heck cares what anyone else thinks?!
As for my husband Eric, I love you more than words can say.
You are truly the heart of my heart, and I am so thankful that you (finally) found me and that you love me unconditionally.
Cheers to being married for two years, and here to many more anniversaries and adventures together!
Oh, and if Huffington Post wants to pick up these ring shots too, I’d definitely be okay with that 😉

Great idea about rings. It is very useful information. It’s looking very beautiful after custom. Thanks for sharing this information.
Thank you for stopping by, I am definitely a lucky wife!
Hi Judith, you certainly are a lucky wife. I have taken off my wedding ring with all the house work these days and no going out. Can’t wait to flaunt my ring again 🙂
It’s funny because I’ve found myself doing the same thing! I’m with you – can’t wait to go out in the real world and wear my bling bling again!
Thank You, Judith for sharing your round cut diamond ring and other oval cut rings. and I’m sorry to hear such bad experience with jewelry stores. I’m in the jewelry industry for many years and never heard this type of cheating before i read this. Yes, you are a lucky wife. No doubt.
Thanks so much Aret, I am so happy with the new ring my husband got me!
I enjoyed reading your story Judith. When I read about how Eric wasn’t able to contain his excitement, it put a smile on my face because we’re the same 🙂
He was so excited – and that definitely translated over into his proposal 🙂
