Okay, I know what you’re thinking: “what the heck is a modern kitchen makeover doing on a photography blog?!”

I wanted to give y’all a little sneak peek into our life, because we just had our kitchen redone.

But we didn’t have a contractor do the work.

Nope.

My handsome hubby Eric (the other 1/2 of Fresh Look) did all the work himself!

I know ladies, I’m a lucky gal!

He spent the second half of 2018 gutting and restoring our kitchen:

Ripping out kitchen cabinets, painting/priming everything, cutting and installing tile backsplash, pouring and designing new epoxy countertops (thanks to the guys over at Stone Coat Countertops for answering all our questions!), and even teaching himself electrical so he could install our kitchen lights!

We went from old, outdated and dark, to modern, clean and bright!

You won’t believe some of the changes when you see the before/after images!

Modern Kitchen Makeover for the Soule House

For anyone who’s ever done a kitchen renovation – you know it is not for the faint of heart!

So many decisions need to be made.

And it starts out all fun and games – “hooray! We get to browse thousands of wall tile options!”

But that joy quickly turns to pain when you have to decide, what kind of stain you want on the oak floors: Golden Oak, Cherry Oak, White Oak, Pickled Oak, Weathered Oak…. how are there even so many different shades for one floor color?!

And don’t even get me started on how difficult it was to agree on lighting fixtures!

Needless to say, this modern kitchen makeover was QUITE the adventure.

But I am SO proud of my husband’s hard work and love that he put into it.

Eric, thank you for being a wonderful hubby, and always treating me like a queen.
