If you flip through my Facebook feed, my friends will usually tag me in one of two things: coffee meme’s or wine memes… but of those are absolutely spot on when it comes to things I love, so getting the chance to do a Mermaid Winery engagement shoot was definitely something I could cross off my to-do list!

And the fact that I had such an adorable couple like Arielle and Tray to photograph there, that just made it all the more awesome!

Mermaid Winery Engagement Shoot

Here’s a quick version of their love story from Arielle:

“The best love story is when you fall in love with the most unexpected person at the most unexpected time.”

Our story began on September 13, 2015 and we’ve been inseparable since. We were both at a social gathering for a mutual friend when my best friend introduced us two. From the moment we were introduced we talked for the rest of the night and every day after.

We went on our first date three days after we met.

Who would have guessed we would get to date each other for the rest of our lives?!

On October 10, 2016 Tray took me to our favorite winery and popped the big question!

It was easily the best day of my life.

We absolutely cannot wait for our big wedding day on July 22, 2016 in Richmond, VA and spend our honeymoon in Hawaii!”

A Bit of Excitement

I didn’t want to steal Arielle and Trey’s thunder, and take away from the beauty and love at their Mermaid winery engagement session, but I just HAD to share some exciting news! Every year, Shoot and Share hosts a photography contest where photographers from all over the world can submit their photos to be voted on by industry peers, try and win prizes, and earn some serious bragging rights. This was the first year that I submitted any images… and even then, I did it without very high hopes. So imagine my surprise when I find out that not only did I have six pictures that placed in the competition (including two finalists!), but this photo below, was chosen as one of the Top 100 images from the entire competition! I am seriously over here doing a little happy dance to celebrate 🙂
