I’m always on the lookout for new, cool places to take my clients for their sessions. I mean, let’s face it, Stumpy Lake is pretty, but I shoot there all the time! So when Stephanie suggested we go to the Great Bridge historic park in Chesapeake, I was completely on board.

When we arrived at the location, I was totally blown away!

This place had so many photographic opportunities: water, docks, split rail fences, wooded paths… we literally didn’t have time to use all the cool spots at this place!

Enjoy getting to know a little more about the Arcangelo family in today’s blog as we share their story and this beautiful location!

Great Bridge Historic Park

Fun facts about our fam: the boys are American and the girls are Canadian. We love to travel to faraway (and not-so-faraway) places together and make memories.

The dad of the group is a great provider for our family. As an IT contractor,  he travels to different ships and naval bases around the country and the world. He has seen some amazing places, but is often away for weeks (and sometimes months) at a time. In the spare time he gets, Aaron enjoys reading, traveling, playing his guitar, hiking, learning to snowboard, theatre, gaming and trying out all of the latest and greatest electronics.

Our crazy 7-year-old son is wonderful! He is an avid reader and loves anything Pokemon or Minecraft-related. His favorite things to do include swimming in our pool, visiting his cousins, gaming with daddy, practicing archery and riding his bike. Fun fact: this kid will eat mustard on almost anything!

Our daughter is a goofy, happy-go-lucky 10-year-old. If you ask her, she will tell you that her favorite things are swimming in pools and touching babies’ hands. In addition, she likes to read biographies, sing karaoke, play the piano, compose music and play the cajon. Fun fact: this young lady has perfect pitch and loves to play her own versions of popular music on the piano.

I am a teacher turned stay-at-home mom. When I’m not busy keeping things running on the home front, these are some of the things I enjoy: trying new healthy recipes, creating art, keeping fit, lounging at the pool or beach, most water sports (including boating, wake boarding, tubing and fishing), skiing, hiking, traveling, spending time with loved ones, and planning trips and adventures for our family.

Family -both immediate and extended- is very important to both of us, so we do our best to spend time together when we can. When Aaron’s is home and not working, we like to engage In typical family activities such as going for walks in the park, seeing movies, hanging out at the beach or swimming in and relaxing by our pool. When we’ve got a bit more time, we like to plan overnight family trips or go out for dinner and see a play or classical music concert together.

Describe Your Perfect Saturday

Our perfect Saturday would start with all of us getting up early (yeah right!), and making a yummy breakfast together. Afterwards, we’d head out and explore someplace new- a park, a beach, a nearby town, a museum. We’d eat lunch, have ice cream on the water and then head home. Our afternoon would consist of lounging by the pool followed by dinner al fresco. We would end the evening snuggling on the couch with popcorn and a movie.

Dad’s family (which includes our lovely photographer) all live within the neighboring cities and it’s nice because we get together and see each other for birthdays, holidays and Sunday brunch. Once a year in the late summer, we gather with them for a few days at a beach house on the oceanfront to kick back, have fun and make memories.

On the other hand, my family is far away and scattered throughout Canada. Despite the distance, we have all remained close and still manage to see each other twice a year. When we do get the clan reunited, we make sure it’s EPIC! In the summer, we meet at my parents’ Northern Ontario home and get to enjoy life on water. In the new year, we try to plan a family vacation to a warm, tropical destination.
