Fort Story Engagement Session

When did you know he was the one?

Day one.  We were going through Young Life new leader training together and got paired together to share our testimonies.  As we shared our lives with each other and got to know each other all I could think was, “In another life…” There was no way to know it at the time but that’s the moment we realized this is real.

How you two meet?

Forbidden love.  We met at George Mason University through Young Life.  We both came to college in relationships and got out of them around the same time.  We were crushing on each other as soon as we met at a friend’s birthday party. We both just made fools of ourselves and caught each other’s attention – and that’s when we knew.

What was the proposal like?

Perfect.  Dane could not wait another day and I didn’t know it at the time but neither could I.  Early on in our relationship, Dane told me that he wouldn’t say “I love you” to someone until it was the person he was going to marry. So when we were right on the water near the Cape Henry Lighthouse, Dane told me for the first time that he loved me and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. And I cried a lot.

What are some of your favorite things to do together?

Nap.  Read. Work out.  Cook. Spending time on the water.  Harry Potter.

If you had to pick a word for your relationship, what would it be?

Fearless!

What are three dreams/goals for your marriage?

1. Lots of Laughs
2. Lots of Hugs
3. Lots of Puppies
