I wanted to do something BIG and celebrating strong women seemed like an amazing way to kick-start March.

When I launched this inaugural Women’s History Month project, the goal was to offer 31 women a FREE headshot.

Nothing could have prepared me for the overwhelming response that I got.

In the BEST way!

Getting to photograph these women and share in their story was wonderful.

And more than that, it was humbling to have 31 women trust me to capture their best self.

As you look through these images, I know you will love getting to know these powerhouse women!

Help me as I unveil this Women’s History Month project celebrating strong women and get to know about them.

Celebrating Strong Women Business Headshot

DB Luxury Events, LLC ~ DaPorcha B.

Hello, I’m a proud Southern Belle, born and raised in the charming city of Charleston, South Carolina. As a devoted wife and mother to seven wonderful children and one dog, family is at the heart of everything I do. As the owner of DB Luxury Events, LLC, I’ve dedicated over 20 years to crafting unforgettable experiences for many wonderful clients, which goes perfectly with this theme of Celebrating Strong Women. My passion lies in creating beautiful memories and ensuring that events are not only successful but also stress-free for everyone involved. I believe in seeing everyone win regardless if they are in the same business or industry as me. That’s why the other side of my business is to help revamp existing businesses who may need help with their business and help start new businesses for someone who wants to start a business. When I’m not busy orchestrating events, I love spending quality time with my family and friends, traveling to new places, and indulging in self-care days. You can also find me enjoying shopping, dancing, being involved on PTAs and different boards and serving in ministry, where I strive to give back and make a positive impact in my community. That’s why soon I will be launching my nonprofit, so stay tuned. Above all, I embrace my creativity, which I believe is a beautiful gift from God.

What inspires you most about being a woman in your industry?

Being a woman in the wedding and event planning industry inspires me in countless ways. Here are a few key points that encapsulate that inspiration:

Empowerment and Leadership: As a woman in this industry, I have the opportunity to lead and shape memorable experiences. It’s empowering to take charge of events that hold significant meaning for individuals and families, and I take pride in my ability to guide my clients through the planning process.

Creativity and Expression: The wedding and event industry allows me to express my creativity fully. Inspiration can always be found in the unique love stories of each couple I work with, translating their visions into beautiful realities. This creative outlet is a constant reminder of the beauty and diversity of love.

Building Connections: Being part of this industry allows me to forge deep connections with clients and their family and friends, vendors, venues and fellow planners. I cherish the relationships I build and the collaborative spirit that often accompanies event planning. These connections enrich my life and fuel my passion for what I do.

Creating Lasting Memories: There’s something profoundly fulfilling about helping others create lasting memories. Knowing that my work contributes to one of the most important days in someone’s life drives me to deliver exceptional service and attention to detail.

Mentorship and Community: I am inspired by the ability to mentor and support other women in the industry. This community fosters growth, collaboration, and encouragement, reminding me that we can elevate each other as we navigate the challenges and triumphs of our profession.

Resilience and Adaptability: The wedding and event planning industry is ever-evolving, often requiring quick thinking and adaptability. As a woman, I embrace the challenges that come my way, finding innovative solutions and showcasing the strength we embody in overcoming obstacles.

Celebrating Love and Joy: Ultimately, what inspires me most is the celebration of love and joy. Each event is a testament to the human spirit, and I am honored to play a role in these celebrations, bringing happiness to others and creating a positive impact in their lives. These factors combine to make my journey in the wedding and event planning industry not just a career, but a passion that inspires me every day.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to other women pursuing their dreams?

Embrace your unique journey and trust in your ability to create your own path. Every woman’s journey is different, and it’s essential to recognize that comparison can often be a thief of joy.

Celebrate your strengths, learn from your experiences, and don’t be afraid to carve out a niche that reflects your passions and values.

Surround yourself with a supportive community that uplifts and encourages you and seek mentorship when needed. Remember that setbacks are not failures but rather opportunities for growth. Stay resilient, keep believing in yourself, and take bold steps toward your dreams—because you have the power to turn your aspirations into reality.

Trust the process, and all you need to least do is have faith as small as a mustard seed Matthew 17:20-21
