After years of work, the new Cavalier Hotel Wedding Venue is finished! This historic hotel got it’s glamorous start all the way back in 1927, where it opened as a luxury resort vacation destination. The hotel is perched on a hill, and overlooks the Virginia Beach oceanfront.

After many years (and so much history!), the hotel fell into disrepair. A family feud between the hotel owners led to a court ordered sale in 2012. The property was put up in a bidding war and everyone but the Cavalier Associates group had demolition planned. Luckily, this is the group that won the property and renovations for the hotel began in 2014.

Cavalier Hotel Wedding Venue

There was so much love and attention to detail that went into the opening of the new Cavalier Hotel Wedding venue. Even going so far as to dismantle the fireplace in the Hunt Room, brick by brick, patching up behind it, and then reassembling each brick back in its original place. It is truly a masterpiece!

For me, having done a wedding at the Cavalier back in 2013, it was amazing to see the transformation. The last time I was in the hotel, it did not have air conditioning and the disrepair was plain. It was sad to see such an elegant venue in shambles.

But fast forward to today (and $80 million in renovations) and it’s plain to see that the Cavalier has been restored to glory… and then some!

If you haven’t had the chance to check out the hotel, it is WELL worth a visit down to the oceanfront.

I am looking forward to going and taking high tea in the Raleigh Room with my daughter. I also want to do a distillery tour in the Hunt Room – and maybe even take one of their mixology classes! And of course, what visit to the Cavalier wouldn’t be complete without a trip to their new dining areas?!
