Jasmine D.
My career is as a mental health therapist, specializing in perinatal care and in empowering Asian women who face cultural identity issues.
I am extremely passionate about women finding their voice and living there life as authentically as possible!
What inspires you most about being a woman in your industry?
Over the years, I have met wonderful female mentors and colleagues and have always admired the resilience they have shown.
Regardless of what they are juggling in their personal lives, they’ve shown up 100% ready to be an anchor for clients dealing with challenging times.
The sisterhood is strong!
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to other women pursuing their dreams?
Believe in yourself and take the first step. If you can dream it, you can make it happen.

A Movable Solution ~ Laura
I am one of the most resilient women you will ever meet. Not by my life choices, but choices that life has made for me. Humble brag: I am pretty funny, but a little rough around the edges. Some may say I am a little too honest, but that is just part of my charm.
As a serial entrepreneur, my background is comprised of bartending, marketing, construction (yes, I hold a contractor license) and now off to a moving company. It is crazy how all that has led me to be a leader.
My husband and mother passed away on the same day, one year apart. I am a cancer survivor and moved 4 states away, all in 5 years… so to say that I am a survivor is an understatement. Interesting and heartbreaking, through each chapter of my story I am kicking life in the ass and doing it with a smile.
The belief that life always has me leading with purpose and reason, has made me realize that the key is to surround yourself with a tight circle. That, coupled with the belief that you can move mountains – even if it is just one rock at a time.
What inspires you most about being a woman in your industry?
Empowering others to be dream catchers.
Many women are stuck using their basic potential, all while dreaming of something far bigger for themselves.
I like to be the voice that reminds them to catch that dream, and to not let it get away.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to other women pursuing their dreams?
Just go for it!!!!!!
Prepare for the hurdles you will face as you will have many – but don’t get discouraged.
Don’t give up when it gets tough, keep pushing the greatness is coming.
But most importantly, believe in YOU and keep the faith!

Elite Exteriors Pressure Washing ~ Gaby N.
I grew up in Zimbabwe (the place I still call home) My mom’s side is American, my dad’s side is Portuguese, my husband is Turkish. My dad used to say we’re like the United Nations household. I enjoy working, my hobbies are spending time with my friends, gardening and church activities. I like to think of myself as a boho entrepreneur.
What inspires you most about being a woman in your industry?
I like that guys think they know everything about running a physical labor business, and then I come in and defy that.
I like to prove a point that it doesn’t matter what industry you are in – there is always a place for a woman somewhere that will drastically improve that industry and make it better.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to other women pursuing their dreams?
Don’t. Give. Up.
It can be tempting to take the easy way out, but you’ll feel so much better about yourself if you work hard and achieve your dreams.
It may take several tries, but life is a journey not a destination – so don’t give up and keep dreaming and working hard.

As a devoted mother and a military veteran, I find immense joy in spending time with my family, exploring music and food festivals, and immersing myself in the captivating worlds of historical fiction novels. What inspires you most about being a woman in your industry?
As a marriage and family therapist resident, I am passionate about guiding individuals through the complexities of life’s challenges. I hold a deep commitment to supporting women, as I believe it is vital for them to feel seen and valued in their journeys. Creating nurturing spaces where women can voice their experiences and connect with others who understand is incredibly important to me. I draw inspiration from the remarkable resilience, creativity, and ingenuity that women consistently demonstrate.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to other women pursuing their dreams?
For those women daring to pursue their dreams, my heartfelt advice is to seek out your tribe. We were never meant to navigate this journey alone; the power of community and support is essential for elevating you from one milestone to the next. Embrace the connections you make, as they can be the lifting force that propels you forward.
Senior Development Manager at Samaritan House ~ Kate C.
I am proud to be the Senior Development Manager at Samaritan House in Virginia Beach and play a pivotal role in raising funds to support the organization’s client programs. Bringing over 15 years of experience in both nonprofit and education sectors, at Samaritan House, I organize the Women Against Violence Luncheon and our highly rated annual televised event. My creative approach to fundraising has been instrumental in the success of these events, allowing Samaritan House to expand its impact on the community.
In addition to my professional endeavors, I am deeply committed to community service. I recently served as Board Secretary on the Hampton Roads Pride Board, have volunteered my time and expertise to help people experiencing homelessness, and was a member of the Alexandria Partnership to Prevent and End Homelessness (PPEH). I am currently the VP of HRBOR, Hampton Road’s LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce because I believe in supporting LGBTQ+ owned and allied businesses in Hampton Roads and beyond.
What inspires you most about being a woman in your industry?
1 in 3 women will experience some type of violence in her lifetime. My job is to make sure that number decreases. As a woman, I understand the everyday dangers that we face and – specifically in my industry – this understanding empowers me to excel. Our clients inspire me to do better for them. Their stories are what keep me going when things become difficult. I am grateful to serve them.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to other women pursuing their dreams?
My advice is to ask for what you want and need. Too often, women are afraid to ask for raises and promotions. I can tell you from firsthand experience that it’s okay to be bold and be assertive. You deserve so much. Go out and get it!

LB Studio Images ~ Laura B.
Hi I’m Laura, a flight attendant and Photographer…Fla-tographer! Covid put a real strain on my photography business. I got tired of the world, shutting down, so I decided to go on a Photography trip, and another, and another…. My husband “suggested” I get a job to help pay for my photography excursions.
You see where I’m going with this.
I thought to myself where can I work that I can travel or take time off for travel, and then it hit me! Why not check out the airline industry! I wasn’t sure if they would hire me as I am much older than the young 20 somethings, but (surprise!) they selected me and off I went to training. That process was intense. I haven’t been to school in so many years, and it was a lot of information to study and to memorize. It was all worth it because after all of that hard work, I was rewarded with my wings! Being in this industry means long hours and a lot of time away from home, but I am beyond happy for this opportunity to travel and continue to have adventures with my camera.
What inspires you most about being a woman in your industry?
Women have come a long way in the airline industry. Flight Attendants, once considered glamorous air hostesses, were hired based on looks and charm with the skills of serving meals and coffee at 40,000 feet. Today, Flight Attendants undergo rigorous training in emergency procedures, first aid, and self-defense (among other skills), to ensure that we are well-equipped to handle any situation that may arise during a flight.
What inspires me is the transformation of how women are viewed in the airline industry. We now even have women pilots. The coolest thing I’ve ever experienced was an all-female Flight Crew from the Pilot, first officer all the way to the cabin crew. The travel benefits aren’t bad either!
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to other women pursuing their dreams?
Get out of your own way and stop limiting yourself!
You are never too old to reach for your goals! I have always had a desire to work in this industry but thought that time had passed until I took a leap of faith and applied.
