FAQs for Photography Clients

Before The Session

We Aren’t Photogenic – Can You Help?!

Although that is something I’ve heard that from many people, honestly – I don’t believe it’s true at all!

I firmly believe that Clients just haven’t had the right portrait experience… yet.

That is where I come in to help guide you every step of the way.

Fresh Look Photography specializes in bringing laughter, joy and FUN no matter who is in front of the camera.

Through our easy style of shooting and natural, relaxed poses, we make sure you have a blast during the session!

.

When Should We Schedule Our Session?

Currently we are booking 3-4 weeks out, so as soon as you know you want to take some pictures, let’s start planning a rockin session!

It is recommend for Clients to schedule their portrait session for a weekday: Monday – Thursday.

That way, any location we choose to take pictures at will be much less crowded on a weekday.

If you are interested in doing a weekend session, we do take on a limited number of Saturday/Sunday sessions, and an additional fee will apply.

.

How Do We Reserve Our Date?

In order to reserve your date and time, we simply need the retainer and signed contract, then we will be ready to rock and roll!

Around here we like to keep things easy peasy lemon squeezy.

.

Weather – What if it Rains

That’s why God invented clear umbrellas!

Seriously though, don’t let cloudy skies or a little rain put a damper on your session.

Bad weather is not a reason to cancel the session, unless the conditions could be damaging to Clients or Photographer.

If bad weather strikes, the plan can adjust accordingly.

Our session can be rescheduled to a different date (in the case of lightning or strong percentage of rain), or an alternate location can be chosen.

.

Getting Ready for the Session

Where Should We Take Photos?

Bases on the type of setting you are interested in, we can share samples of photoshoots that were done in similar locations.

Here are a few ideas to get your gears going:

  • Uptown City (historic neighborhood, rooftop views, etc)
  • Urban (colorful murals, city streets, graffiti, etc.)
  • Natural / Organic (woodsy, open fields, lakes, etc.)
  • Beachy (under the pier, sea grass, dunes, etc)
  • Garden (parks, gardens, etc.)
  • Vineyard/Brewery (winery, local brewery, etc)
  • Coffee Shop/Bookstore/Library

.

What to Wear

Here is a handy-dandy {LINK} to a blog of ideas for what to wear during your session.

Don’t feel like you are restricted to white shirts and blue jeans, color and patterns look awesome in pictures!

We recommend bringing a second outfit to change into 1/2 way through the session.

Let’s plan to start the session with something a little nicer (like a long, flowy dress and button up/slacks) and then change into something more laid back (jeans/tee shirt, etc).

If you are interested in using the services of a professional wardrobe stylist or makeup artist, we’d be happy to refer you!

.

After Your Photoshoot

What Happens After the Session

Once we are finished photographing the session, we sprinkle our magic glitter sauce on your images.

Don’t worry, no images are harmed in this process.

We will have you over to our home studio for a portrait reveal and ordering session.

At that time you will receive your digital images, but can also purchase keepsake prints, canvas wall art, or an heirloom album.

.

Average Turnaround Time

We get it – waiting is hard!

That’s why we guarantee to have your portrait session images back within a week (whoot whoot!).

But if we are being honest, it usually it only takes a few days.

And we usually have a sneak peek up to pique your excitement within 48 hours!

For our wedding clients, we offer the same kick-awesome service – your full wedding gallery will be available for viewing about a week after your wedding!

.

Digital Files vs. Printed Artwork

You’ve just invested quite a bit of money in having custom portraits made for you and the ones you love.

Doesn’t it make sense to invest in heirloom products to show off how cute y’all are?!

I mean, it would be a shame for all that gorgeousness to live on your hard drive and never see the light of day!

It is recommended that Clients order prints/products through Photographer because we offer a lifetime guarantee on all of our products.

Working with professional print labs will ensure that we can deliver archival, heirloom quality keepsakes that you can enjoy for years to come.

.

What Do You Offer In Terms of Physical Products?

Fresh Look Photography is pleased to provide a variety of products:

  • Heirloom Leather Albums – 8×8 – 12×12 sizes
  • Keepsake Prints – 5×7 in to 30×40 in
  • Canvas Wall Art
  • Acrylic Wall Art
  • Digital files with print release

Products are packaged at a discount, but are also offered à la carte.

.

How Many Images Do We Get?

The actual final number of images you receive can vary based on a few different factors.

However, we will ensure that you receive all the awesome ones!

During our time together, I will be taking tons of images so we can fully capture your story.

During editing we only eliminate test shots, duplicate images, missed focused shots, etc.

.

Editing and Copyright

Do You Edit All the Images?

Absolutely!

Each and every image that you receive has been hand-edited, one at a time, without any batching to ensure the highest level of optimization.

Basic editing is included (color, saturation, exposure and sharpness, etc as needed), but additional retouching can be done for an additional fee.

Select images will be changed to Black and White, done at the photographers discretion.

However, I encourage you to let us know if there is a particular photo you’d love to have converted.

.

Editing vs. Retouching

Photo Editing Includes:

  • Adjusting lighting, contrast, color balance
  • Cropping, resizing, and rotating images
  • Applying filters or effects

Photo Retouching Includes:

  • Removing blemishes, scars or wrinkles
  • Smoothing skin or flyaway hairs
  • Removing objects or people from the background
  • Advanced manipulation of the image

While editing enhances the overall look and feel of the photo, retouching focuses on detailed, precise changes to specific elements within the image.

Thing of editing as “enhancing the scene”, and retouching as “perfecting the details.”

.

What Rights Do We Have to the Images?

Clients will receive a lifetime print release that gives you unlimited rights to reproduce the images for personal use (up to 8×10 portrait sheets).

Digitala images can be used to create prints, share on your social media and with family and friends, etc.

Commercial use is not allowed (unless granted by Photographer).

Photographer will always retain Ownership and Copyright of all images.
