Believe it or not, “places to propose in Virginia Beach” is one of the top things people search for when coming to my website.
I know – kind of blows my mind too!
So if you are looking for the perfect place to pop the question to your sweetheart – we’ve got you covered.
Not only are we showcasing some of our favorite places here in Virginia Beach, but in the surrounding Hampton Roads area as well!
I mean – if we’re gonna do it, we’re gonna do the damn thing!

Places to Propose in Virginia Beach
1) Virginia Beach Boardwalk
Get the total tourist experience (especially in the summer) by heading down to the Virginia Beach Boardwalk at the oceanfront.
Lizzie and Cameron had an epic sunset session – for real, you have to check out the gorgeous colors in the sky!
There really is not a bad time to head down to the boardwalk.
Yes – the likelihood of people increases exponentially during the summer, but I promise, the photos will be totally worth it!
.
2) King Neptune Statue
If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, check out the King Neptune Statue at 31st Street!
Maria and Anthony did a sunrise session on the beach, and the photos are super epic!
And if you are ever worried about what your hair will do, just take a look at the romantic, windswept look Maria is rockin!
The focus is on you two lovebirds – we will make it amazing!
.
3) Military Aviation Museum
Anj and Kevin chose a unique location for their session, and we had a blast at the Military Aviation Museum!
Not only did we have a hanger full of World War II era plans, but the owners even brought out a few planes on the runway for them to pose with.
And with Kevin being a pilot – this was extra perfection!
.
4) ViBe Creative District
If you are into bright, colorful and fun – look no further than this epic location!
Patrick and Marie walked all around the ViBe laughing, snuggling and creating photo magic.
With so many different location options, there is truly something for everyone.
From colorful murals, sweeping beach views, city vibes, and even greenery.
This is an awesome spot to get a little bit of everything in your session.
.
5) Stumpy Lake Natural Area
One of the (many) natural areas in Hampton Roads, this location has a lot to offer.
Brooke and Alex had a fall engagement session that was truly magical (especially in the tall grass)
Bonus – this is a dog friendly location, so we absolutely think you should bring your four legged friends!
Really, it’s just so I can love on your fur baby.

6) Miyazaki Japanese Garden
This hidden gem is nestled in Red Wing Park, and boasts Japanese style gardens and decor.
My suggestion is to follow Becky and Kyle’s lead and do a cherry blossom session.
These delicate flowers only bloom for a brief time in the spring, but make for an oh-so-romantic setting!
Typically there will be lots of people at this location, so pre-planning is a must in order to minimize the amount of photobombers in your pictures.
.
7) The Historic Cavalier Hotel
Hands down, this has to be one of my favorite locations currently!
Whether you are proposing in the sunken gardens, or exploring the beauty of the restored property – there are no bad options.
Sharod proposed to his sweet fiancé on National Proposal Day (how’s THAT for planning!).
Everything was set up in the Sunken Gardens for the perfect start to their happily ever after.
Complete with a few special Disney touches!
.
8) Chicks Beach
By far, the number one most popular photo location choice for clients!
Especially in the summertime to catch that gorgeous sunset.
Jessica and Joe had the most perfect evening starting out in the woods, and then heading right to the beach.
And what proposal would be complete without popping a bottle of bubbly?!
Hint – it is always appropriate!
.
9) Town Center of Virginia Beach
If an upscale, sleek, city-look is what you are envisioning, then stop the scroll.
Town Center of Virginia Beach makes an awesome backdrop for you to get down on one knee and pop the question.
Robyn and Chris did two different looks for their session, and the second outfit she put on was absolutely stunning!
In this space, you can walk the streets hand in hand, duck into one of the cute shops, or pose in front of the fountain.
.
10) Historic Houses in Virginia Beach
If you are looking for a more intimate, quiet location to pop the question, then I’m going to suggest one of the many historical houses here in Virginia Beach.
There are two or three that I have as go-to spots, but I especially love the Thoroughgood House.
As you can see from when we did this session for Dani and James – the lighting and location are just about perfect!
Plus there are quite a bit of the grounds that we can explore, and run around having fun together.
And if we time it right, we will have the entire place all to ourselves (win win!).
