When you get in front of a camera, do you tend to freeze up? When you smile, does it feel more like a forced sneer where you tend to show way too much teeth? And how about those hands (what do we do with our hands during the photoshoot?!). Have no fear! We are sharing our top suggestions for ways to look better in photos painlessly! And – don’t get excited – but it might even by FUN!
5 Ways to Look Better in Photos
Little Changes Make a BIG Difference!
Want to make your hips appear slimmer? (I am right there with ya!) Turn your body to a 45° angle and pop the leg closest to the camera. This gives you that super sexy “S” curve that we all want, and makes you look more slender.
If you aren’t quite in love with how your arms look, hold them slightly away from the body with the elbows back. This ensures that your arms have a little bit of separation from the body, and appear less bulky.
Forget That I’m Here
I know it’s gonna be a little hard – there’s a big, giant camera in your face. I get it… that can be mildly awkward.
However if you really want to look better in photos, try focusing on what’s really important: the ones you love!
I want you to get lost in the fact that you are laughing, and having fun, and snuggling…. not the fact that you are being posed to death.
When you look back at these images in 5, 10, 20 years, I just want you to focus on the connection that you share!
Splurge on Pampering
I tell you what, it makes such a difference to have professional hair and makeup done for your photo shoot. When you look good, your confidence radiates through in every part of you!
Treat yo self and get your hair and makeup professionally done.
I personally did this the last time we had family photos done, and it was amazing!
I felt like a million bucks, and that confidence translated into the images the photographer captured for us!

Show What You Got
We want you to show off all the things you love about yourself!
Do you have a “better side”? (think about which one is your “selfie” side) Usually we have a side we prefer (conscientious or not), so let’s rock it with that gorgeous mug!
If you want to look a little more slender, we’ve got just the trick for you! Twist your torso, turning one shoulder toward the camera and the other away from it. This puts the body at an angle to the camera, and makes you look amazing!
If you love your hair, make sure to ease up on the styling products. Hair with lots of body and movement is the hero of the day when it’s in front of your shoulders.
If you want to hide signs of a double chin, stick your neck out. Push your neck forward and angle your chin down slightly. It will feel pretty silly when you are doing it, but always makes for gorgeous images.

Don’t Fake It!
Cheese is awesome when it comes to a wine tasting, but not so much for a photo shoot.
When we say the word “cheese” during a photo shoot, it produces a reaction – much like Pavlov’s dog. And often, takes us back to grade school, where the photographer (who couldn’t care less) would get you in front of the camera and tell you “say cheese”… What ensued was never a good smile.
Instead, get ready to say something out of the ordinary: watermelon, fuzzy pickles, bubbles (you can’t be unhappy while saying bubbles!).
I dare you to have a real smile…. I guarantee it’ll make a difference!
